More to Enjoy in July in Massachusetts

So many towns in Massachusetts have very special anniversaries – Back in 2005 Billerica held its 350th anniversary – seems like yesterday – and I was honored to be one of the co-chairs of that event.  It takes lots of planning several years in advance to pull off events like these.  So put these on your calendar and plan to visit the Cape are

Wareham’s 275th Anniversary

July 10th -Wareham Town Hall – incorporation reenactment at 2pm

Sillane Field – food and entertainment – from 4pm to 9pm

July 12th – parade from Main St to Gibbs Ave and Marion Rd before ending at town hall – kicks off at 10am

founders ball – 7pm   advance tickets required

July 13th – public safety day 1 to 5pm at town hall

includes friendly competition showing how fires were fought years ago

1900s bash with festivities centered on 20th century – August 20th


Sandwich 375th Anniversary

July 19th – 800s bash   – featuring Civil War ear reenactors

11am to 3pm  – horse drawn wagoette rides

noon to 4pm  – quilt show at town hall

3:15pm – old time baseball game at Wing school

July 26th 0 old fashioned clambake from 5pm to 11pm on the banks of the Cape Cod Canal (as part of the canal celebration –

with music, a juried craft fair and a kids tent with activities starting at 10am

and in August (yes get out that calendar too)

August 2nd and 3rd – on Water St site of a wing ding – kayak tours on Shawme Pond, 2 day car show, food trucks, pony rides, hayride on an antique fire truck, tethered hot air balloons and First Church on Main Street 3D light show


If you are into folk music – July 25th thru July 27th Lowell’s 28th annual Folk Festival

traditional ethnic music, authentic crafts demonstrations and hands on children’s activities

kicks off Friday night – parade and performances at Boarding House Park (Lowell National Historic Park) and Dutton Street Dance Pavilion

festival is free – $10 per day suggested donation
